Literacy: In writing students are working on writing a book review. Their reviews will be published and displayed in the lower school library in the upcoming weeks. During reading students are continuing to work on fluency and comprehension skills.
Math: Students are learning fact-finding strategies to develop fact power, will be working on name-collection boxes, and will be introduced to the centimeter.
Science: In science students were able to observe in our classrooms the life cycle of a plant. Also, we read a book about each stage of the life cycle.
Social Studies: Students continue interviewing Graded community members to learn more about their jobs and how they contribute to the community as a whole. Through this, first graders are realizing that each community helper is like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle- each one is important.
Portuguese PLA: Para se prepararem para a escrita de sua própria versão do livro "Não Confunda", os alunos estão criando um "banco de rimas". Para isso, eles buscam palavras que rimam, consultando os colegas e pesquisando nos murais e em livros da classe.
Portuguese PAL: Students have been excited, singing and learning new vocabulary: finding new rhymes and reading them aloud. For the next weeks, they will be making and writing new rhymes.
