One of the most powerful ways for children to develop strong vocabularies and reading fluency is to read, read, and read some more! Vacation times provide for less structured reading and a wider range of choices, but reading is just as important! Consider making it part of your daily routine, as the first thing in the morning or the last thing before bed. The 2018 Reading World Cup provides extra motivation for students to practice (like their favorite players). Students have received booklets, and the link above gives you additional support, including a parent guide.
Remember that our library catalog, Destiny Discover, is more than just a place to see what books we have! Download the app or bookmark it on your computer for easy access. Login (username: graded, password: graded) to read eBooks, access Tumblebooks, open Brainpop & World Book, etc. Go to Links > See all to view our subscription databases and their login information. Tumblebooks has thousands of books and all different reading levels, so it's a great option when traveling. If you are in S.P., we'll be open every Monday during break from 9-11 am and 1-4 pm.
We have begun the process of marking books lost and sending out fine notices, but we would always prefer to have the materials back. Books are carefully selected for Graded based on students’ interests and needs, and getting replacement copies here to Brazil is a lengthy process. Items have been finding their way back this week, and we are down to 331 overdue books, but we need everyone's help to get these remaining books back where they can be enjoyed my more children. Thank you for your support!
