Curriculum Update
Science
Students are exploring, designing, sketching, and building both simple and compound machines that demonstrate the use of forces. They are testing the force of magnets and exploring the interaction of the magnetic poles. Students will use the skills and knowledge gained in the module to solve an open-ended, real-world problem. As students work through this unit on Stability and Motion: Forces and Interactions, they engage in hands-on experiences and use a step-by-step process to solve problems.
Language
In reading and writing, students have continued to focus on informational texts. They have been applying their comprehension strategies to read with engagement that include asking questions while reading and making connections . As readers, they continue to stop while reading to check their understanding and to jot down ideas, questions and connections.
Students have been applying their research skills to draft, revise and publish information text. During a recent visit from Dr. Purcell, our LS Librarian, students learned how to properly record sources they use when researching and writing.
Technology
Students have been reviewing and learning some new digital tools. For example, they have been reviewing how to use RAZ Kids and learning how to take part in video conferences. They have reviewed essential agreements for digital citizenship and care for their Chromebooks.
