Ms. England's Class Begins Fractions

On Friday we entered the big world of fractions. Some of us had heard a little about fractions, but a lot of us were very unsure. In order to help us think about and plan the learning ahead we completed a class KWL chart. This helped us think about what we already Know, what we Want to know, and then after the beginning of the lesson, what we have Learned so far. 

At the end of our math lesson we were given a task... one that really demonstrated by fractions are so important... Ms. England brought in cookies, but she didn't have enough! She only had enough for every other person. So, instead of some friends going with nothing, we decided to use our new knowledge of fractions and share! Of course, making sure that we each had an equal half. 

After Portuguese we were in for another treat! Ms. Thibodeaux's 4th grade class came in to help us with fractions! It turns out that they are learning about fractions too, and were very eager to help us with our fractions. We each had a buddy to work with. Then, for the last 5 minutes we played a giant game where we had to answer fraction questions to get as many points as possible. It was so much fun! Our teachers were both so happy with how hard we were working! We cannot wait to get together again!
