It was a great second grade day that was busy from start to finish! We started the day by singing a song called We Run the Show and we learned what the lyrics meant.
We also read a story called First Day Jitters and learned how the author used words, actions, dialogue and facial expressions to show different emotions such as nervousness.
We also focused on the Eagle Way as part of our social studies unit on The Ideal Classroom. Students listened to a story about a naughty monster who didn't follow the rules. After listening to the story, we generated rules about how to behave in the hallways. And then we practiced. A lot. We're still learning. Students were also assigned classroom jobs to help take care of the room.
Finally we squeezed in a bit of math where students are learning about the power of ten. The power of ten is a visualization technique to help kids develop a better number sense. And before we knew it, the day was over! We still had smiles by the end of the day so all in all, it was an awesome day full of fun and learning. (My apologies for missing a couple of students.)
I’m sure that we’ll have another amazing year !! ❤️
