Curriculum Update
Math: We are beginning our fifth math unit this week on geometry. Areas covered in this unit are:
- Line segments, parallel lines, and parallel line segments
- Attributes and characteristics of 2D and 3D shapes
- Classification of polygons and quadrilaterals
- Lines of symmetry
Reading: We are continuing reading unit on helping students prepare to read longer and harder books. The second portion of the unit focuses on exploring figurative language as students read increasingly complex texts, and reading with partners.
Writing: Students are continuing their opinion writing unit. Students are writing about books and a variety of other topics. Students are focusing on supporting their opinions with reasons, and writing with purpose and a specific reader in mind.
Social Studies: We are continuing with our social studies unit, focusing on different types of communities as well as mapping skills and types of landforms. We will also explore how physical geography affects communities.
Português: Português- os alunos estão terminando a unidade de ortografia sobre os dígrafos LH, CH e NH em Português. A seguir trabalharemos com a fábula "A cigarra e a formiga", leitura, interpretações orais e teatrais e, a seguir, escrita individual respeitando as características do texto e buscando aproximar-se o mais possível da escrita convencional em Português, afinal, estamos no 2nd grade!
