Welcome to Grade 3! 2019-2020

We are very excited to welcome you all to Grade 3!

Teachers have been eagerly waiting to meet all of you and we look forward to a productive and fun year of learning and working together.

As we begin the school year, there are a few things we want you to keep in mind: Be yourself! We can't wait to meet the one and only you!

Drop Off :
During the first few days of school, you are welcome to walk your child to class. However, please gradually release responsibility so your child can walk from the Student Centre to class on their own. Please also remember that class starts at 8:05. Late students often miss valuable information and lesson content.

After School Pick-Up:
Be sure your child knows where to go after school. As we progress through the first weeks of school, parents are encouraged to stay out of the Grade 3 Courtyard. This is meant to foster independence and lower distractions during final lessons of the day.

Headphones:
Please bring a set of headphones. Each student will be getting their own class Chromebooks this year. Having your own set of headphones will be very helpful. You will have a safe place to store your headphones but make sure you put your name on them! Bring a water bottle. Make sure your name is on it!

Homework:
There will be no homework in the coming weeks. When the time comes, we will give you complete and comprehensive information about what is expected. For now, stay tuned get used to Grade 3!

Birthdays Parties:
Are always held during the last 15 minutes of the day. If you wish to have a party for your child, please remember:
• Be on time.
• Contact your classroom teacher in advance to arrange a time.
• Find out about allergies and be sure to provide safe options for ALL children in the class
• You are responsible for all materials needed. The classroom teacher does not keep party/food supplies such as plates, cutlery or napkins
• We are trying to model environmentally friendly practices. For example, cupcakes are a low-waste option. We discourage the use of single-use plastics. Do not hesitate to contact your classroom teacher if you have any questions.
