Grade 3: Curriculum Update for Week of April 6, 2020

Reading	Grade 3 will be starting our new unit on biographies! We will be practicing and reviewing a variety reading strategies to learn about changemakers.
Writing	This is the beginning of our persuasive writing unit. To start, students will build their speaking skills communicating a problem, proposing solutions and begin to organize their thinking. They will also analyse persuasive speeches made by changemakers.
Math	We will start our new unit on fractions by partitioning shapes into equal parts. For example, the class will partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.
Science	This is the final week of our Science unit. This week, the students will complete a final project that shows what they know about simple machines, complex machines  and forces.
Portuguese	Unidade Biografias  Escrita da biografia de alguém da família Leitura recomendada na plataforma Elefante Letrado PAL: Practice the assigned song and vocabulary; do the recommended online reading.  Portuguese is assigned on Monday. However, students are expected to complete work each day (10-15 minutes per day). Please review Portuguese Google Classroom instructions carefully.
PE/Music/Art	PE: We will have a bit of yoga, fitness and dancing this week. Music: Reading Music - Treble Clef - Lines Art: A drawing challenge
