CHANGEMAKER
PROJECT
Reading/Writing
|
Language and Reading will totally integrate into our Changemaker Project. This will prepare the students for their Changemaker Persuasive Speech at the end of the school year. "Reading" and "Language" will no longer be the topic assigned in Google Classroom. It will now be "Changemaker Project" starting on Monday. The focus on this week will be reading to research for their persuasive speech about their chosen changemaker. The students will review reading for main ideas and details, note taking, cause/effect and story elements. Students will also be completing a detailed portrait of their changemaker. This portrait project will be assigned on Monday and due on Thursday.

Math
|
Students have completed their unit on fractions and are now starting to solve two-step word problems using the four operations. They will represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Students will practice assessing the reasonableness of their answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.

Social Studies
|
The class will investigate what it means to be a changemaker in their own lives. They will apply what they have learned about changemakers to make a positive change in their own world.
