CHANGEMAKER
PROJECT
Reading/Writing
Students will begin writing their persuasive essay to convince an audience that their chosen person is indeed a changemaker. This week will focus on taking all the research they have done last week and getting it organized so they will be able to draft. They will review writing thesis statements and how to write a beginning that hooks the reader.
Math
We will begin our Geometry unit. The goal will be to understand that shapes in different categories may share attributes, and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). The class will learn to recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals.
Social Studies
The class will learn about how and why societies memorialise changemakers, looking at examples of monuments and memorials.
