reading and preferences in general. Students will learn to state opinions clearly and support these
ideas with reasons and evidence.
Social Studies: Our science unit is coming to a close and we will begin our new unit on
community next week. In this unit we will explore the ideas of location and communities,
focusing on how people, institutions, and organizations interact with each other within
communities. We will also cover mapping skills and landforms as a part of this unit.
We would love to have parent guest speakers come in to talk about how they contribute
to their community either through their job or through organizations they belong to.
If you would be interested in being a guest speaker please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
