How to Reduce the Stress of "Homeschooling" on Everyone

Parents-
The number of articles and news reports and studies on the impact of COVID-19 on our now home-based education are increasing every day, and as counselors we try to sift through the noise in order to find those that are most helpful.

Attached here is an article from Berkeley's Greater Good Institute, which we have found to be a valuable resource.

The information is short, measured, and helpful to remind ourselves as we push forward into Week 6 of Graded's Distance Learning.

The three pieces of advice given are:

1. Simplify: Relax your homeschooling and productivity standards to a level appropriate for a worldwide pandemic
2. Structure: Keep calm and structure on
3. Support: Get ahead of the meltdowns (and teach critical social-emotional skills, too!)
Please know that you can contact the Lower School counselors with any problems, issues, or concerns that you have- We are all in this together, and we look forward to hearing from you-

Lower School Counselor, Grades 3-5
